Pompeii

Pompeii

The devastating eruption of Mt. Vesuvius‎ in 79 AD buried the entire town of Pompei, which was once a thriving centre for commerce.
The people had no time to react as hot lava ashes rained on the town and the day turned the sky to night. Thousands were killed instantly.
Today we only see the remains of this once great city with its Roman bath, amphitheater & main street that would have resembled the 5th Avenue of that Era. They had no digital technology or iphones but they had an advance civilization with water pipes and sliding doors!

A must stop to any visit if you find yourself in Southern Italy.
